Tech.Games S01E06: E3 popularity contests, missing games, and the curious case of video game hardware

Tech.Games S01E06: E3 popularity contests, missing games, and the curious case of video game hardware With the hype of E3 2017 behind us, we can take a calm and calculated look back at the games and hardware announcements as we meticulously prepare our spreadsheets to budget for the several thousand rupees we plan to spend on games this coming fiscal. It’s hard to look at everything objectively, of course, so let’s simply look at some statistics from YouTube and social media. The popular vote As we all know, democracy is an imperfect process, but we can confirm 100% that everything video games is quite literally a popularity contest (except in the case of Infinite Warfare or Mass Effect Andromeda, where any publicity ended up being bad publicity). So, which were this year’s most popular E3 trailers on YouTube? Coming in at #1 is Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s gameplay trailer, which at the time of writing has 8.9 million views. Call of Duty – Infinite Warfare Review: Excellent single-player marred by lacklustre multiplayer

Call of Duty – Infinite Warfare Review: Excellent single-player marred by lackluster multiplayer The announcement of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare remaster, and its subsequent inclusion in the “Legacy” edition of Infinity Ward’s latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise, Infinite Warfare sent mixed signals. This year is a little different because Microsoft finally unveiled its latest console, officially, and confirmed its price and hardware. As promised, the Xbox One X from Microsoft certainly seems like the most powerful console to date. Raw numbers place the console’s power in the 6 TFLOP range – a TFLOP is a measure of computing power – which is 50 percent higher than Sony’s PS4 Pro, which manages a mere 4.2 TFLOPS. Just take a look at the table below:   Xbox One X ($499) Xbox One S ($299) PS4 Pro ($399) PS4 ($299) CPU 8 custom cores @ 2.3 GHz 8 Jaguar cores @ 1.75 GHz 8 Jaguar cores @ 2.1 GHz 8 Jaguar cores @ 1.6 GHz ...
